After studying Editorial Journalism at Duquesne University, and serving in the US Army for four years, including service in Vietnam in 1969 and 1970, Frank became a pioneer in the emerging Executive Search Industry. As the founder of F.J. Bruckner & Company, he manages a recruiting practice specializing exclusively in Construction Industry staffing for Senior and Critical Leadership positions. One of the most recognized and experienced Construction Recruiters in the US, with more than 40 years of industry experience, he is on a first name basis with many of the Industry's leaders.
He has personally completed thousands of successful search assignments for Construction Organizations, including more than 250 retained C-Level searches for Executive Leadership. His firm concentrates on President, CEO/COO, Business Unit Management, Branch Management, key Department Management, and critical Project Manager searches. He conducts searches which are national or regional in scope requiring "Best in Industry" or "Best in Marketplace" level candidates.
Previously he was an executive at Kimmel and Associates. He joined Kimmel in 1990. Then a 4 person firm, he participated in growing the firm to 170 full time recruiters, completing more than 1100 search assignments each year. He was instrumental in implementing the Kimmel Education Initiative, resulting in a commitment to Construction Education which provided more than $340,000 in scholarships for university students in construction and engineering, and the $6 million gift to Western Carolina University establishing their School of Engineering and Construction. He retired from Kimmel as Executive Vice President, and was the first inductee into the Kimmel Hall of Fame.
He maintains a passionate interest in construction's next generation of leaders, and sponsors an endowed scholarship fund for High School students in Asheville, NC. He currently serves as an Industry Advisor to the Construction Programs at Indiana State University and Wentworth Institute of Technology.
In 2005 he was inducted into Sigma Lambda Chi, The National Construction Management Honor Fraternity, in recognition of his service to Construction Education. He has been a guest speaker at Construction Industry functions, including the ENR Top 1000 Conference, the National AGC Convention, and AGC Regional Conferences. He is often quoted in Industry Publications on issues of Recruiting, Compensation, and Staffing.
Gary is one of the most recognized and highly regarded HR Professionals in the Construction Industry today. Gary participates in interviewing and evaluation of all candidates prior to their submission to our clients for retained search assignments. He provides an independent third party evaluation of all candidates, and oversight of the entire search process.
Additionally, Gary can provide on site direction and coordination of candidate interviews at our client’s office. He is able to facilitate the entire interview process, for clients who do not possess an in house personnel specialist, or who require independent third party hiring guidance. He offers additional services to clients, including design and installation of complex HR policies and procedures, training programs, management development and retention programs, safety/risk programs, internship programs, and college recruiting programs.
Gary’s career spans 30+ years service to the construction industry. He was a senior officer and stockholder at Pizzagalli Construction Company, an ENR Top 400 national General Contracting firm. In his capacity as VP of Administrative Services, his responsibilities included recruiting hundreds of key managers and executives. He is a Life Director of the AGC/America and his many years of work with training and human resources issues have helped form much of the leading industry thinking today.
Gary was the founding member of The Construction Personnel Executives Group, and currently owns and manages Warner and Company (gbwresults.com) an affiliated firm of F. J. Bruckner & Company.
Peg Codington directs both the Industry Research and Candidate Recruiting Process within our firm. Peg is uniquely qualified to assist individuals through the complex decision making process involved with career change.
As a "construction wife", Peg spent 15+ years on Fluor Corporation jobsites and branch offices, including assignments in LA, CA, Valdez, Alaska, and Johannasburg, South Africa. She understands the issues involved with family relocation, children's education, housing, and transition into a new job in a new place. Her counsel to candidates and their families is invaluable in their decision making process.
Peg possesses a wealth of life and recruiting experience, including 6 years experience as Recruiter and Researcher at the largest construction search firm in the US. She has also served as Financial Manager for an Educational Institution.
